A's C Chris Gimenez Claimed off Waivers by Texas

The Oakland A's announced today that catcher Chris Gimenez was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers.

Gimenez was claimed off waivers by the A's from Tampa Bay on December 20, 2013. He batted .242 with no home runs and three RBI in 25 games with the A's this spring. The 31-year-old right-handed hitter spent nearly the entire 2013 season with Triple-A Durham in the Tampa Bay organization, batting .224 with three home runs and 22 RBI in 95 games. Gimenez also went 1 for 3 with a walk in four games with the Rays in September. He is a .199 career hitter in 143 games in five seasons with Cleveland (2009-10), Seattle (2011) and Tampa Bay (2012-13).
