A's claim RHP Andrew Triggs off waivers from Baltimore

The Oakland A's claimed right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's placed right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker on the 60-day disabled list with a fractured right medial epicondyle.

The Oakland A's claimed right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's placed right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker on the 60-day disabled list with a fractured right medial epicondyle.
 
Triggs made three spring training appearances with Baltimore and had a loss and a 13.50 ERA before he was released on Thursday. He allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk in 3.1 innings while striking out three. The 26-year-old right-hander spent the entire 2015 season at Double-A Bowie where he was 0-2 with a 1.03 ERA and .196 opponents batting average in 43 relief appearances. Triggs converted each of his 17 save opportunities and struck out 70 while walking just 11 in 61.0 innings. He was originally selected by Kansas City in the 19th round of the 2012 draft and was traded to the Orioles organization for cash on April 4, 2015. Triggs is 11-9 with a 2.02 ERA, .218 opponents batting average and 50 saves in 152 appearances over four professional seasons.
 
Parker fractured his medial epicondyle for the second time on Thursday. He originally fractured it May 8, 2015 while rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery on March 24, 2014.
