The Oakland A's claimed right-handed pitcher Donn Roach off waivers from the Detroit Tigers, the club announced today. Roach will report to Triple-A Nashville.
Roach began the season in the Seattle organization and made four relief appearances over two stints with the Mariners. He had an 8.44 ERA with Seattle and was 6-6 with a save and a 4.08 ERA in 22 games, including 17 starts, with Triple-A Tacoma before he was designated for assignment Aug. 6. The 26-year-old right-hander was claimed off waivers by Detroit Aug. 9 and assigned to Toledo where he was 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA in five starts. Roach was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Saturday. He made his Major League debut with San Diego in 2014 and also pitched for Chicago (NL) last year. Roach is 3-1 with a 5.77 ERA in 21 games, including two starts, in three seasons in the majors.
