The Oakland A's announced the following medical update on right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs:
Triggs will have thoracic outlet surgery on Sept. 26, which will be performed by Dr. Gregory Pearl from the Texas Vascular Associates in Dallas, Texas. The club will provide further details after the surgery has been completed.
Triggs, 27, was 3-1 with a 5.23 ERA (24 er, 41.1 ip) with 43 strikeouts in nine starts with Oakland this season. He began the season in the A's rotation before going on the 10-day disabled list with right arm nerve irritation on May 18. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on July 13. He made one rehab appearance with Stockton during the postseason on Sept. 5 vs. Visalia. This is the second season in a row that he has ended the year on the disabled list after suffering a strained left hip in 2017.
