The Oakland A's outrighted right-handed pitcher Chris Smith and catcher Matt McBride to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
 
McBride batted .209 with no home runs and two RBI in 20 games over four stints with Oakland. He also hit .267 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 70 games with Triple-A Nashville. McBride was a non-roster invitee with the A's this spring after signing a minor league contract on Dec. 24, 2015.
 
Smith was a non-roster invitee with the A's this spring and spent most of the season at Nashville, where he went 6-8 with a 3.93 ERA in 22 starts. He was called up to Oakland on Aug. 7 and made 13 relief appearances with the A's, logging a 2.92 ERA and .165 opponents batting average. The appearances were Smith's first in the majors since 2010 with Milwaukee.
