The Oakland A's recalled catcher Matt McBride from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Neal to Nashville, the club announced today.

This will be McBride's second stint with the A's this season. He was originally selected from Nashville on April 27 but did not appear in a game with the A's before being optioned on April 29. He was batting .175 with a home run and four RBI in 20 games with the Sounds and also walked six times for a .246 on-base percentage. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter signed a minor league contract with the A's Dec. 24, 2015 and was a non-roster invitee this spring, batting .118 in 17 games.

Neal was selected on Wednesday and made his Major League debut that night at Boston, allowing three earned runs in three innings of relief. This season in Nashville, the 27-year-old has appeared in six games (all starts), posting a 4-1 record with a 2.70 ERA in 36.2 innings. He has allowed one or fewer earned runs in four of six starts and tossed a season-high eight innings on May 7, allowing just three hits and a run.
