A's recall IF Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's recalled infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. Muncy takes the roster spot of Ben Zobrist, who was traded to Kansas City earlier today.
Muncy joins the A's for the second time this year and is batting .203 with two home runs and six RBI in 34 games. He was selected from Nashville April 25 and made his Major League debut. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter batted .290 over his first 16 contests but then hit .146 over his final 18 games before being optioned to Nashville June 30. Muncy is hitting .246 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 37 games with the Sounds, including .211 with three home runs and eight RBI in 22 games since his June 30 option. He was hitting .293 against right-handed pitching compared to .114 against left-handers at Triple-A.
