A’s Recall Miller from Triple-A Sacramento; Option Ross to Sacramento

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Jim Miller from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Tyson Ross to Sacramento, the team announced today.

Miller joins the A’s for the third time this year and is 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA and .215 opponents batting average in 24 relief appearances with Oakland. He was selected from Sacramento April 25 for his first stint and had a 1.93 ERA in six games before he was optioned May 11. Miller was recalled May 20 for his second stint and had a 2.25 ERA in 18 games before he was optioned back to Sacramento August 3. Miller did not allow a run in five of his six appearances (7.0 ip, 2.57 ERA) with the River Cats following his last option.

Ross was recalled yesterday to start against Tampa Bay and allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks in 6.0 innings. It was his fourth stint with the A’s this year and he is now 2-9 with a 6.45 ERA in 13 starts with Oakland overall. Ross is 5-2 with a 2.74 ERA in 13 starts with Sacramento.
