A's Recall RHP Bassitt from Nashville; Option RHP Leon to Nashville

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Arnold Leon to Nashville, the club announced today.

Bassitt was 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three games, two starts, for the Sounds. He held the opposition to a .207 batting average and walked four in 16.0 innings while striking out 16. The 26-year-old right-hander started in each of his first two outings before pitching in relief last Sunday against Colorado Springs when he tossed 4.2 scoreless innings and allowed just three hits. Bassitt went 1-2 with an 8.78 ERA in five games, three starts, with the A's this spring before he was optioned to Nashville March 29. He made his Major League debut with the White Sox last year, going 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in six games, five starts.

Leon was recalled from Nashville yesterday and made his ML debut last night at Los Angeles, allowing a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning. He began the season with the Sounds and had no decisions and a 7.56 ERA in two starts. Leon had 11 strikeouts in 8.1 innings but opponents were batting .314.
