A's Recall RHP Chavez from Sacramento; Option RHP Scribner to Sacramento

The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner to Sacramento, the club announced today.

Chavez was in the starting rotation for the River Cats and was 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts.  He struck out 19 and walked just four in 18.1 innings.  His last start was April 15 at Reno when he allowed two runs on six hits while striking out nine in 7.0 innings for the win.  The 29-year-old right-hander had an 18.90 ERA in four September appearances with the A's last year and was 1-1 with a 9.85 ERA in 13 appearances overall in 2012.

Scribner had a 4.26 ERA in eight appearances with the A's, including last night when he allowed four runs in 3.0 innings of relief of Brett Anderson, who left the game with a sprained right ankle after one inning.
