The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher J.B. Wendelken Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Wendelken joins the A's for the second time this year and has a 19.29 ERA in two relief appearances with Oakland. He was recalled the first time May 8 and made his Major League debut that day at Baltimore, allowing four runs on four hits in 1.1 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander also pitched the next day at Boston before he was optioned back to Nashville May 10. Wendelken is 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 19 relief appearances with the Sounds. He has 36 strikeouts in 19.2 minor league innings (16.47 per nine innings) but has also issued 10 walks (4.58 per nine innings) and allowed a .288 opponents batting average.
