A's Recall RHP Straily from Sacramento; Option RHP Chavez to Sacramento

The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Dan Straily from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez to Sacramento, the club announced today.

Straily was on the A's Opening Day roster and started the fifth game of the season, an 8-3 victory at Houston April 5. He struck out a career-high 11 batters in a career-high tying 6.2 innings but was optioned to Sacramento the next day when Bartolo Colón was reinstated from the suspended list. Straily was 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA in three starts with the River Cats. He allowed a .159 opponents batting average and did not surrender a home run in 18.2 innings. Straily struck out 20 and walked just six.

Chavez was recalled from Sacramento April 20 and pitched in three games with Oakland. He logged a 6.23 ERA and allowed a .350 opponents batting average. Chavez is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts with the River Cats.
