A’s Recall RHP Tyson Ross and IF Eric Sogard from Triple-A Sacramento

RHP Evan Scribner and IF Adam Rosales Optioned to Sacramento

The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Tyson Ross and infielder Eric Sogard from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner and infielder Adam Rosales to Sacramento, the club announced today.  The A’s also announced that first baseman Kila Ka’aihue cleared waivers and was outrighted to Sacramento.

Ross joins the A’s for the second time this year.  He began the season at Sacramento before he was recalled April 17, the first day the A’s needed a fifth starter.  Ross went 2-6 with a 6.51 ERA in nine starts with the A’s before he was optioned back to Sacramento May 31.  He went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts with the River Cats following his option and is 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA in four Triple-A starts overall.

Sogard also joins the A’s for the second time this year as he was on the Opening Day roster before he was optioned to Sacramento May 21.  He hit .136 with two home runs and six RBI in 21 games and started 17 games at three different positions, including 10 at third base, four at second base and three at shortstop.  With the River Cats, he batted .304 with a home run and nine RBI in 18 games, including 15 at second base, two at shortstop and one at third base.

Scribner was selected from Sacramento June 6 and pitched two scoreless outings with the A’s, including last night against San Diego when he tossed 3.0 shutout innings for his first Major League save.  Rosales was recalled from Sacramento May 17 for his second stint with the A’s this year and went 4 for 24 (.167) with nine walks in 12 games.  He is hitting .167 in 13 games overall with Oakland.  Ka’aihue was designated for assignment June 6 after batting .234 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 39 games.
