A's Reinstate Gentry from the DL; Designate Fuld for Assignment

The Oakland A's reinstated outfielder Craig Gentry from the 15-day disabled list and designated outfielder Sam Fuld for assignment, the club announced today.

Gentry was placed on the 15-day DL March 29 retroactive to March 21 with a lower back strain. He did not play in a Major League game during the spring and began a rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton a week ago today. Gentry was transferred to Triple-A Sacramento Monday and went 6-for-12 (.500) with a double and four RBI in three games with both clubs. He started games at all three outfield positions during his rehab assignment. Gentry was acquired from the Texas Rangers December 3, 2013 with Josh Lindblom for Michael Choice and Chris Bostick after batting .280 in 106 games with Texas in 2013.

Fuld was on the A's Opening Day roster and was batting .200 with two triples, a home run and four RBI in seven games. He started games at all three outfield positions, including each of the last four in center field. Fuld was 2 for 17 (.118) on the road trip after going 4 for 13 (.308) on the first homestand.
