The Oakland A's reinstated Chad Pinder from the 10-day disabled list and recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Brady from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Pinder was batting .234 with nine home runs and 25 RBI in 47 games with Oakland when he was placed on the 10-day disabled list June 24 with a strained left hamstring. He began a rehab assignment with the Sounds July 18 and went 5-for-27 (.185) with a home run, RBI and four walks in eight games, including three in center field, two at second base, one in right field, one at shortstop and one at designated hitter. The 25-year-old right-handed hitter is batting .266 in 17 games overall at Triple-A.
Brady joins the A's for the second time this year after going 0-0 with a 3.18 ERA in seven relief appearances in his Major League debut from June 17 to July 18. He appeared in two games, including one start, with Nashville following his July 19 option and allowed one earned run in 6.2 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander is 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA and .217 opponents batting average in 16 games, including seven starts, overall with the Sounds.
