A’s Reinstate Inge from Disabled List; Option Recker to Sacramento

The Oakland A’s reinstated infielder Brandon Inge from the disabled list and optioned catcher Anthony Recker to Triple-A Sacramento, the team announced today.

Inge was batting .227 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 11 starts at third base with the A’s when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 17 retroactive to May 13 with a strained right groin. He went 5 for 5 with three runs, two doubles, two home runs (including a grand slam) and seven RBI in a start at third base for Triple-A Sacramento Saturday night and was 6 for 7 (.857) with eight RBI and a walk in two games with the River Cats. Inge signed with the A’s as a free agent April 30. He began the season with Detroit and was 2 for 20 (.100) in nine games before he was released April 26.

Recker was batting .129 with no home runs or RBI in 13 games with the A’s. He made 10 starts (nine at catcher, one at designated hitter) and tossed out 4 of 11 (36.4%) attempted base stealers. Recker made his Major League debut with the A’s last year and went 3 for 17 (.176) in five games after batting .287 with 16 home runs and 48 RBI in 99 games with the River Cats.
