The Oakland A's have reinstated right-handed pitcher Sonny Gray from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher J.B. Wendelken to Triple-A Nashville, the team announced today.

Gray will start today's game at Houston. He was placed on the DL May 22 retroactive to May 21 with a strained right trapezius. He was 3-5 with a 6.19 ERA in nine starts at the time of the injury. He currently has a career-high tying four-game losing streak and has a 10.38 ERA and .337 opponents batting average over that five-start stretch dating back to April 27. This was Gray's first career stint on the disabled list.

Wendelken was recalled from Nashville on Friday for his second stint with the A's this year but did not appear in a game. He has a 19.29 ERA in two relief appearances with Oakland. He was recalled the first time May 8 and made his Major League debut that day at Baltimore, allowing four runs on four hits in 1.1 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander also pitched the next day at Boston before he was optioned back to Nashville May 10. Wendelken is 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 19 relief appearances with the Sounds.
