The Oakland A's reinstated third baseman Danny Valencia from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Tyler Ladendorf from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Valencia was batting .294 with two RBI in 14 games before he was placed on the 15-day DL April 22 retroactive to April 21 with a strained left hamstring. He made two starts at third base on a rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton on Monday and Wednesday and went 1-for-7 (.143) with a home run and RBI. The 31-year-old right-handed hitter had hit safely in each of his final four games with the A's before the injury, going 5-for-15 (.333). Valencia started 14 of the A's first 15 games at third base.
Ladendorf was recalled April 22 when Valencia went on the DL. He went 0-for-2 in six games with Oakland, including four pinch running appearances and one start at second base. Ladendorf was batting .240 with a home run, two RBI and nine runs scored in 12 games with Nashville at the time of his promotion.
