SAN FRANCISCO -- A's corner infield prospect Ryon Healy will be the organization's lone representative at the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which takes place July 10 at Petco Park in San Diego.
Healy, 24, was selected to the U.S. roster Tuesday and is the No. 16 prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline. Through Monday, he had posted a .342/.399/.591 slash line between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Nashville this season with 13 homers and 59 RBIs in 75 games.
Futures Game rosters and scouting reports
A's manager Bob Melvin said Healy, who spent time with the A's in Spring Training this year, caught his eye.
"You look for when guys come over to big league camp for the first time, how they handle the situation," Melvin said. "He was scared of nothing. He was aggressive in his at-bats."
The California native has caught fire since the beginning of 2015, batting .317 with 23 homers over 199 games between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Nashville. He'll join a U.S. infield that includes Dansby Swanson (MLB Pipeline's No. 6 overall prospect), Alex Bregman (No. 18) and Dominic Smith (No. 46).
"He's made a name for himself in our organization and moved up pretty quickly," Melvin said.
The 18th edition of the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will air on MLB Network at 4 p.m. PT on July 10.
