A's send RHP Nolan Blackwood to Detroit as PTBNL in Fiers deal

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's sent minor league right-handed pitcher Nolan Blackwood to the Detroit Tigers as one of the two players to be named later in the Aug. 6 trade in which they acquired right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers.

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's sent minor league right-handed pitcher Nolan Blackwood to the Detroit Tigers as one of the two players to be named later in the Aug. 6 trade in which they acquired right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers.
Blackwood has spent the entire season at Double-A Midland where he is 6-3 with nine saves, a 4.08 ERA and .280 opponents batting average in 39 relief appearances. He was originally selected by Oakland in the 14th round of the 2016 draft and is 9-10 with 34 saves and a 3.56 ERA in 101 career appearances in three professional seasons. The 23-year-old right-hander was rated as the A's 30th best prospect by mlb.com.
