A's issue statement after Maxwell incident

The A's issued a statement on Sunday regarding catcher , who was reportedly arrested Saturday night at his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a food delivery person alleged he pulled a gun on her.
"We were disappointed to learn of the allegations," the statement read. "We take this situation and ongoing investigation seriously. We are gathering information from the proper authorities and do not have further comment at this time."
Maxwell was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct, according to The Associated Press and TMZ Sports, which initially reported the news. The Scottsdale Police Department said Maxwell was held in custody pending an initial court appearance.
The 26-year-old catcher, the son of a military family, received attention toward the end of the season for kneeling in protest of racial injustice during the national anthem, explaining the gesture was not intended in any way to disrespect the flag, Veterans or those currently serving.
