Davis' blast fuels A's in Bay Bridge finale win

April 2nd, 2016

OAKLAND -- Khris Davis hit his first home run at the Coliseum, a solo shot to left field off Matt Cain that highlighted the A's three-run third inning in a 4-1 exhibition victory over the Giants to close out the Bay Bridge Series on Saturday.
It was Davis' second spring homer, as Oakland's new left fielder finished his first spring in green and gold with a .314 average.

That was the only earned run allowed by Cain, who was solid in his final spring outing, holding the A's to two hits over five innings with one walk and two strikeouts.
A's starter Felix Doubront, the club's projected fifth starter, lasted just one inning before departing with left forearm tightness. He faced four batters, walking one, before lefty Eric Surkamp took over in the second and strung together seven scoreless innings.

Oakland scored a pair of runs courtesy of Giants center fielder Denard Span, who was charged with two fielding errors on a two-out fly ball off the bat of Jed Lowrie, allowing both Marcus Semien and Lowrie to score on the play.

A's prospect Matt Chapman hit his sixth homer of spring in the top of the eighth off Josh Osich.
"What a first impression for our fans," A's manager Bob Melvin said of Chapman's big blast. "They've heard a lot about him all spring coming into this and [he] gets his first at-bat, swings at the first pitch and almost hits it off the glass in left field, which we haven't seen too many balls travel up there."

The Giants' Ehire Adrianza answered with his own solo shot in the ninth off Ryan Dull.
