Astros Announce 2016 Spring Training Schedule
First game will be March 3rd; Pitchers and Catchers report Feb. 18
HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros unveiled their 2016 Spring Training schedule today, which includes 28 games in Florida and two exhibition games at Minute Maid Park.
The 2016 season will be the Astros 32nd and final season training at the Osceola County Stadium complex in Kissimmee, FL, as the club is scheduled to move to their new complex in West Palm Beach in 2017.
This year's schedule includes 13 home games at Osceola County Stadium and 30 exhibition games overall,including the two games at Minute Maid Park, scheduled for March 31 and April 1 vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Astros start the 2016 Grapefruit League season on Thursday, March 3 vs. the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, FL. Houston's home opener will be on Friday, March 4 at 1 p.m. ET vs. the St. Louis Cardinals at Osceola County Stadium. The home opener will be the first of three straight weekend home games for the Astros as they will also host the NL Champion New York Mets on Sat., March 5 (1 p.m.), and the AL East Champion Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, March 6 (1 p.m.). The Astros will also host the Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals during the Spring. The complete Spring Training schedule is included at the end of this release and is subject to change.
The Spring Training report date for Astros pitchers and catchers is Feb. 18 (Feb. 22 for position players).
