White's resurgence has been a driving factor in the success of the Fresno Grizzlies over the last few weeks, as the club has gone 29-12 (.707) since May 24 with White batting .325 (50x154) with 11 homers, 39 RBI and a 1.014 OPS in 39 games in that span. From June 23-July 4, Fresno won a franchise-record, 12 consecutive games.

Whitley, 19, posted a 1-1 record and a 1.74 ERA (4ER/20.2IP) with 31 strikeouts, 12 walks and 18 hits allowed in five games in June (4 starts) for Class A Quad Cities. Among all Midwest League pitchers during the month, Whitley ranked third in ERA and tied for fourth in strikeouts.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound right-hander was promoted to Class A Advanced Buies Creek on July 2 and immediately became the third-youngest pitcher in the Carolina League. In his first outing at the level on Monday vs. Potomac, he tossed 5.0 hitless innings with just one walk and nine strikeouts. Whitley was selected by the Astros with the 16th overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas.
