WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Astros catcher/designated hitter Evan Gattis received an anti-inflammatory injection into his right (throwing) shoulder on Wednesday and didn't catch in the bullpen as previously scheduled.
The first group of Astros pitchers threw in the bullpen during the first workout of the season at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, but Gattis didn't participate.

"It's just been a little sore, a little more sore than usual," Gattis said. "So we just kind of nipped it in the bud, especially with a lot of volume coming up. I'm not too worried about it."
Gattis, who hit off a tee Wednesday, was held out of any drills involving throwing and might be limited to just hitting in the next couple of days. He said it's nothing serious.
"I'll be back out there doing everything I can, and I think I'm probably going to be throwing in the next day or two. I don't want to give a timeline because I haven't really talked about it, but typically they're not very long."
Gattis is coming off a solid season in which he hit .251 with a career-high 32 homers and 72 RBIs, breaking the club's single-season homer record for a catcher with 19. He finished second on the team in OPS (.826) behind Jose Altuve and hit .295 with 10 doubles and 41 RBIs in 55 games at catcher last year.
