Astros Host Cinco de Mayo Party at Minute Maid Park

Pregame Festival and Los Astros Cap Giveaway Presented by Wells Fargo

Houston, TX – The Houston Astros will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration at Minute Maid Park prior to the 6:05 p.m. game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, May 5.  The party, which includes live entertainment, will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at KBR Plaza, adjacent to Union Station on Crawford Street.  Wells Fargo is the presenting sponsor of the pregame party with additional support from Budweiser, Goya Foods and Univision.

The festival is free and open to the public but admission to the Astros-Cardinals game requires a ticket.  Special Cinco de Mayo ticket packages are available in select seating areas and include a free value beer* or soda.  Tickets are available at www.astros.com/cinco

On Cinco de Mayo, the players will wear uniforms that feature the team name in Spanish, Los Astros, across the front of the jersey.  They will wear the uniforms again on September 15 as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.  The first 10,000 fans at the game will receive a Los Astros cap courtesy of Wells Fargo.  In-park public address announcements will be in English and delivered in Spanish by Renzo Heredia from the Astros Spanish flagship station la Tremenda 1010 AM.

Mary’s Band and Mariachi Calmecac will entertain fans at the street festival as they enjoy traditional Latin food and beverages.  Mary’s Band, led by Mary Frometa, is an energetic group featuring international, merengue and salsa music.  Prior to starting her own band, Frometa toured with the Grammy Award winning band, “La Mafia.”  Mariachi Calmecac will add to the celebration with their mariachi music.  In addition, some Astros players and the Astros general manager, Jeff Luhnow, will briefly visit with fans during the Cinco de Mayo celebration.

*Value beer is available at any permanent concession stand that offers draft beer.
