Astros Host Rival Angels and Rangers in Final Six Home Games of Regular Season

The final six Astros home games of the regular season should prove critical in the highly-contested race for the postseason. The Astros prepare to host the LA Angels of Anaheim for a three-game set beginning tonight and ending on Wednesday. The Astros, who currently hold a 2.5 game lead on the Angels in the AL Wild Card race, also lead the season series vs. the Angels, 9-7. On Friday night, the second-place Astros begin a three-game, weekend series vs. the Texas Rangers, who currently lead the AL West by a mere 1.5 games. These final three home games of the season will also be the final three games between the intra-state rivals, and may decide which team captures the AL Western Division crown. The Astros currently have the best home record in the AL with a 50-25 (.667) mark.

All three of this weekend's games vs. the Rangers will be broadcast nationally. Friday's 7:10 p.m. game will be shown on ESPN2, Saturday's 12:05 p.m. game will air exclusively on FOX and Sunday's 1:10 p.m. finale will air on TBS. Please note that ROOT SPORTS will broadcast both Friday's and Sunday's games.

The "Season of the #Whiff" campaign, in partnership with the Astros, MLB and Head & Shoulders, continues to raise money for local RBI programs through Twitter. The team with the most #Whiff tweets, including retweets, will earn a donation for their location RBI league, and the top monthly winner will earn a $10,000 donation. The Astros placed third in August and have raised $29,000 for Astros RBI to date.

Monday, Sept. 21 - 7:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels

Prior to tonight's 7:10 p.m. game, head football coach for the University of Houston Cougars Tom Herman will be throwing out a ceremonial first pitch.

Monday kicks off the Astros participation in Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Over the course of the four home games this week, four different organizations will have children participate in various in-game events, including the Kids First Call, a ceremonial first pitch, a pregame ceremony and the Chevy Base Stealer feature. Monday's featured organization is the Ronald McDonald House Houston, which provides a home away from home to families with seriously ill children.

Tuesday, Sept. 22 - 7:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels

Tuesday's featured organization is the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance, which partners with families and shares their journey as they battle the disease and the tremendous financial burden they inherit immediately upon diagnosis, at no charge.

Wednesday, Sept. 23 - 1:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels

Prior to Wednesday's 1:10 p.m. matinee home game, Rockets All-Star and inaugural NBA Players Association MVP James Harden will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

Wednesday's 1:10 p.m. game will be nationally televised on MLB Network.

Wednesday's featured Childhood Cancer Awareness Month organization is the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which is the world's largest volunteer-powered organization for childhood cancer and is committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and giving survivors long and healthy lives.

Friday, Sept. 25 - 7:10 p.m. vs. Texas

Prior to Friday's 7:10 p.m. matchup with the Texas Rangers, the Astros will hold a special pregame ceremony honoring long-time Assistant Athletic Trainer Rex Jones. Jones, who has spent his entire 37-year career in the Astros organization, has developed an outstanding reputation amongst his peers and with generations of Astros players and staff. He is also recognized by many Astros fans for his signature mustache.

Due to the postseason implications of this weekend's matchup with the Texas Rangers, all three games will be broadcast nationally. Friday's game will air nationally on ESPN2 as well as regionally on ROOT SPORTS.

Friday's featured Childhood Cancer Awareness Month organization is the Sunshine Kids, a Houston-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality activities to children with cancer. Houston Astros legend and Hall of Famer Craig Biggio is their national spokesperson.

Friday also marks the final Big and Bright Friday Night of the regular season. The postgame fireworks display, presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, will feature a "2015 Chart Toppers" theme.

Friday night is also Happy Hour at Minute Maid Park, featuring $5.25 specials at the Saint Arnold Bar in left field and Day Fresh Budweiser at the Budweiser Patio from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Z Tequila is also offering $6 specials for their Classic Lime and Prickly Pear Margaritas, located in the FiveSeven Grille, all game long.

Saturday, Sept. 26 - 12:05 p.m. vs. Texas

Prior to Saturday's 12:05 p.m. game, the Astros will hold a Hispanic Heritage celebration, presented by Montejo, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., which will take place both on the Plaza on Crawford Street and inside the ballpark. Fans with a game ticket can enjoy traditional Spanish dancers, local food trucks, activities for all ages and live Latin music by Katanah and La Orquesta Pachangara as well as a performance by DJ Geraldo from Mega 101, all thanks to Chuly Music. Astros Spanish radio broadcasters Alex Trevino and Francisco Romero will emcee a Q&A session with Astros legend Jose Cruz at 11:00 a.m. on the Plaza on Crawford Street, and select Astros players are scheduled to appear at the Street Festival. During the game, the Astros will wear their "Los Astros" jerseys and public address announcements will be made in both English and Spanish.

The nationally televised Astros vs. Rangers game will air exclusively on FOX at the rescheduled time of 12:05 p.m. CT. All gates will open at 10:00 a.m.

The Astros are proud to recognize our minor league MVPs IF A.J. Reed and RHP Joe Musgrove prior to Saturday's contest with a special pregame ceremony on the field. Reed and Musgrove will also be signing autographs from 11:00-11:30 a.m. on the concourse in Home Run Alley.

Also on Saturday, the Astros will host the Little League World Series Finalist Pearland team and recognize them with a pregame ceremony and ceremonial first pitch.

Sunday, Sept. 27 - 1:10 p.m. vs. Texas

Sunday is Fan Appreciation Day at Minute Maid Park. The annual event features a 2015 team poster giveaway, which includes a 2016 team schedule, for 10,000 fans as well as special fan prizes which will be given away during each half-inning break.

Sunday's game will also be broadcast nationally on TBS as well as regionally on ROOT SPORTS.
