CLEVELAND -- The Astros placed outfielder Jake Marisnick on the seven-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, prior to Tuesday's game against the Indians due to a mild concussion he sustained while running into the outfield wall to make a catch against the Rays on Sunday in St. Petersburg.
Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Fresno to replace Marisnick, who is eligible to be activated on May 1. Because the seven-day DL is shorter and offers teams more flexibility than the 10-day DL, Major League Baseball has a protocol through which it ensures proper medical records back a player's placement on the DL.
"I'm feeling better," Marisnick said. "When I first came out [Sunday], I didn't feel great. Right now, I feel a lot better."

Marisnick, who hit the wall in the first inning and was removed from the game an inning later, took early batting practice on the field at Progressive Field prior to Tuesday's game, with manager A.J. Hinch watching.
"It was good to move around a little bit," Marisnick said. "My body is a little stiff. I'm just a little off, but I'm feeling better, feeling good."
Marisnick has started seven games in center field this year, but he played in 17 of the Astros' first 19 games because he was often used as a defensive replacement. Hernandez, who can play all three outfield positions, was hitting .250 with four homers and a team-high 15 RBIs in 16 games for Fresno.

"I know he's been playing well," Hinch said of Hernandez. "We have a lot of trust in Teo. There are a lot of teams where he would've made the team out of camp. At the very least, right now in his career, he can help us as an extra outfielder and maybe more. His at-bats have been pretty good. His versatility in the outfield will pay off. I told him today he'll be working in left field as a defensive replacement for Carlos [Beltran] if needed. He fills that void."
Hernandez made his big league debut last year and hit .230 with four homers and 11 RBIs in 41 games for the Astros.
