HOUSTON -- The Astros have until Thursday morning to set their 25-man roster ahead of Game 1 of the American League Division Series presented by Doosan, but manager A.J. Hinch provided some clarity on Tuesday regarding some spots.

Hinch said infielders Colin Moran and J.D. Davis, along with reliever Reymin Guduan, were sent home and won't be in the postseason mix. Meanwhile, infielder/outfielder Tony Kemp, catcher Max Stassi and pitcher Francis Martes were sent to West Palm Beach, Fla., to work out with the club's instructional league players in case they're needed later in the playoffs.

"We wanted to thin out the room," Hinch said. "That's as far as we've gone so far. We've got to make some more decisions with some of our veteran guys as to how they fit into the picture."
Stassi's assignment to Florida means Juan Centeno has earned a spot on the ALDS roster as the third catcher, and infielder Tyler White is likely to make the playoff roster as a right-handed bat off the bench against the Red Sox's left-handed pitching. Last week at Fenway Park, White came off the bench to draw a walk against David Price.
Centeno's ability to throw out runners couldn't be ignored, especially against a Red Sox team that might force the issue on the bases. The Astros threw out only 13 of 102 would-be base stealers during the regular season. Centeno was 1-for-11, but he threw out Brock Holt at second last week on a ball in the dirt.
"It's where every player wants to be in his career, and here I am," Centeno said.

Dinner with McCann
• Veteran catcher Brian McCann organized a team dinner following Tuesday's workout at Minute Maid Park as the Astros continue preparations for the ALDS.
"It's perfect timing to get everybody together and celebrate what we've accomplished already, and heading into this postseason," McCann said.
McCann asked designated hitter Carlos Beltran if he thought having a team dinner would be a good idea, and Beltran joked, 'If you get the bill, of course, let's do it.'"
Beltran said the Astros are a close-knit team and wanted to have one more chance to celebrate their regular season, which included 101 wins and the AL West title.
"I think it's good for us to get together and have a good time, you know?" he said. "That's what it's all about. I think when you look around, the teams that really go the distance are teams that stay together and are able to spend time with each other. We did that every so often this season and today was a good day to do it."
Reddick feeling better
• Astros outfielder Josh Reddick, who missed the final week of the regular season with a sore back, worked out with the team on Tuesday and he was feeling better, Hinch said. Reddick is expected to be available for the ALDS.

"I know the days off have helped him," Hinch said. "We won't know a ton until he gets through these two workouts as to how he feels and where he's at physically."
Reddick, a left-handed hitter, might not have started in Game 1 against Red Sox lefty Chris Sale anyway.
Reddick, who signed a four-year, $52 million deal in November, finished the regular season with a .314 average, 13 homers and 82 RBIs in perhaps the best season of his career. He hit .391 in September, which was the second highest average in the month in the AL.
