Astros Minor Leaguer Heredia suspended

Astros Minor League pitcher Angel Heredia has received a 50-game suspension after he tested positive for two performance-enhancing substances, in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced the penalty Thursday afternoon.

Heredia, a right-hander on the Astros' Dominican Summer League roster, tested positive for the metabolites of Stanozolol and Boldeone. His suspension will take effect at the start of the 2012 season.
