Astros picks, Biggio receive Gold Glove Awards
No. 2 overall selection Bregman, eighth-rounder Stubbs honored by ABCA
HOUSTON -- Two Astros Draft picks were honored for their collegiate defense on Sunday, alongside the son of a Houston icon.

Houston No. 2 overall pick Alex Bregman was awarded a Rawlings Gold Glove Award at shortstop, and eighth-round selection Garrett Stubbs was given the award at catcher, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Sunday.
Cavan Biggio, son of Astros legend Craig Biggio, was honored at second base. A rising junior at Notre Dame, Cavan had a .986 fielding percentage in 60 games at second base, with only five errors.
Prior to LSU's College World Series game against TCU today, Bregman sported a .974 fielding percentage in 63 starts, making only nine errors. Stubbs had a .994 fielding percentage for USC, allowing only two passed balls and nailing 28 would-be basestealers in 59 games.
The ABCA awarded only one Gold Glove Award at each position.
