March 30th, 2017

HOUSTON -- The Astros on Thursday made official what they revealed as they were departing Florida on Wednesday -- right-hander will start the year on the 10-day disabled list while he continues to build arm strength he lost while dealing with fatigue issues this spring.
McHugh and (bone bruise on elbow) were both placed on the DL. McHugh will pitch in a simulated game Saturday in West Palm Beach, Fla., and if that goes well, he will make at least one start for a Minor League affiliate. Whether he pitches in more than one Minor League game will be determined at a later time.
McHugh, who came down with arm fatigue earlier in camp, is slated to throw five innings or 75 pitches in his simulated game. He will return to Houston to partake in Monday's Opening Day festivities before heading out to one of the Astros' farm clubs.
Paulino, the Astros' No. 3 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, also stayed back in West Palm Beach will begin a throwing program in the next day or two.
