Astros sign 3rd-rounder, 5 other Draft picks

ST. LOUIS -- The Astros announced Wednesday they had signed six players who were selected in last week's 2016 MLB Draft, including third-round pick Jake Rogers, a catcher from Tulane who got a $614,000 bonus. Rogers told MLB.com on Sunday he had reached a deal.
The other players to sign are infielder Alex Degoti (15th round from Barry University), right-handed pitcher Colin McKee (18th round from Mercyhurst College), infielder Taylor Jones (19th round from Gonzaga), catcher Chuckie Robinson (21st round from Southern Miss) and left-handed pitcher Howie Brey (31st round from Rutgers).

Rogers hit .261 with nine doubles, seven home runs and a .384 on-base percentage for Tulane, but he is considered one of the top defensive catchers to come out of the Draft in years. He threw out 83 runners attempting to steal in his career.

Five other players taken in the first 10 rounds have told MLB.com in recent days they had reached a deal with the club: second-round pick Ronnie Dawson (outfielder from Ohio State), fifth-round pick Abraham Toro-Hernandez (third baseman from Seminole State), eighth-round pick Nick Hernandez (right-handed pitcher from Houston), ninth-round pick Ryan Hartman (left-handed pitcher from Tennessee Wesleyan) and 10th-round pick Dustin Hunt (right-handed pitcher from Northeastern).
