White day-to-day after getting hit by pitch

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Astros second baseman is day-to-day after being hit on the right hand with a pitch by Washington starter Joe Ross on Saturday.
White left in the fifth inning, in a game the Astros eventually won 5-4. Jack Mayfield entered the game for Houston as the pinch-runner for White.
The pitch was Ross' 76th and final pitch of his outing and second Astros batter he hit in the game. was hit with a pitch in the second inning.
"He's day-to-day, just a scary incident [pitch] up and in," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "There are a lot of small bones in the hand. But I think we've escaped the worst-case scenario. He probably won't play [Sunday]."
Hinch said that White was in a little bit of pain and wasn't taking any chances.
"Spring Training, I'm going to take a guy out every single time that happens," he said. "But tests have been conducted, we'll get more information [Sunday], but we're optimistic."
