Atlanta Braves to host Rookie Development Week

Prospects undergo full week of training in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Atlanta Braves will host 28 of the organization's prospects at the Braves Rookie Development Week, from January 21 to January 25. In addition to providing training, the program is intended to introduce the prospects to the Turner Field environment and to the Atlanta community.

The daily sessions will take place at Turner Field and will include morning workouts and instruction from the major and minor league staff, guest speakers in the early afternoon, community relations visits in the late afternoon and various activities throughout the Atlanta area in the evening. Players will throw and hit in the indoor batting cages and outside (weather permitting).

The prospects will make community relations visits on Wednesday, and on Thursday, they will visit the Lawrenceville Boys and Girls Club. Also on Thursday, the prospects will attend a Braves season ticket holder event as a part of the Braves Country Caravan. On Friday, the group will tour the Martin Luther King Center and they will also attend the Atlanta Hawks basketball game.

In addition, Gwinnett Braves Manager Brian Snitker and five Braves prospects, including the Braves 2012 first-round draft selection and Lawrenceville, Ga., native, Lucas Sims, will be available to the media on Thursday, January 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Coolray Field.
