Orioles place Reimold on DL; Arrieta recalled

Club options Burnett to Triple-A, Jurrjens added to 40-man roster

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles made a pair of roster moves prior to Saturday's game against the Rays, recalling right-hander Jake Arrieta and placing outfielder Nolan Reimold on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Baltimore also optioned reliever Alex Burnett to Triple-A Norfolk and added starter Jair Jurrjens to the 40-man roster -- moving Brian Roberts to the 60-day DL to clear a spot on the 40-man.

Arrieta will work out of the bullpen, at least for now, and could be a starting option down the line. The Orioles have not yet decided on a starter for Monday, although that would be Freddy Garcia's normal day. Miguel Gonzalez is still tentatively slated to come off the DL and start on Tuesday.

With Reimold's injury, it's something that has slowed him since the spring and it isn't getting better. He will remain with the Orioles at least through the homestand with his DL stay retroactive to last Sunday.

Arrieta, who was dealing with some right shoulder tenderness, said he's feeling much better and was slated to start for Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday had he not been promoted. Arrieta last threw a pair of side sessions on Wednesday and Thursday and said he's worked hard to take the emotion out of pitching.
