Bautista, Donaldson look to soar in ASG vote

Duo resides two spots away from starting positions; Tulo, Edwin third at SS, DH, respectively

DETROIT -- Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista remain within striking distance of a starting job at the upcoming 2016 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard in San Diego, but they're still going to need a little bit of help.
Donaldson was ranked third at third base when Major League Baseball released its latest 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot update on Tuesday afternoon. The reigning American League MVP Award winner received 588,957 votes but trails Baltimore's Manny Machado (898,715) and Kansas City's Mike Moustakas (725,731).

Bautista also sits two spots away from a starting job in the outfield. He is currently ranked fifth at his position with 734,161 votes. Los Angeles' Mike Trout (1,344,578), Kansas City's Lorenzo Cain (944,362) and Boston's Jackie Bradley Jr. (937,571) round out the top three.

Toronto's Troy Tulowitzki (433,958) is third at shortstop and Edwin Encarnacion (344,828) is third at designated hitter. Russell Martin is fourth at catcher (308,146), Kevin Pillar is 12th (296,776) and Michael Saunders is 13th (251,338) in the outfield spots.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
