Beat the Streak is back for the 2022 season -- and the $5.6 million prize is still up for grabs.

The idea is simple -- pick one player (or two) every day who you think will get a hit. The objective -- surpass Joe DiMaggio's record-long 56-game hitting streak -- is a bit more challenging.

But we are here to help with that. We'll provide BTS leaderboard updates and daily insights on favorable matchups in this space, as well as every weekday on the new “Beat the Streak Daily: Inside the Hits” podcast.

HITTERS TO TARGET TODAY

Aaron Judge, Yankees (vs. Cubs)
When Judge is locked in, he's arguably the most dangerous hitter in the game -- and he's certainly locked in right now. He has five homers in his past 10 games, and he's hitting .310 with a 1.055 OPS this season. He's also been crushing the ball at Yankee Stadium, hitting .325 with a 1.073 OPS at home.

Austin Hays, Orioles (vs. Royals)
Hays has been arguably the Orioles best hitter this season, and that's been especially true of late. He's hitting .319 over the past 20 games, while recording at least one hit in 17 of those 20 contests. Now, he gets a matchup against Royals rookie Jonathan Heasley, who ranks in the bottom-10 percentile when it comes to xERA, xBA, xSLG, xwOBA, strikeout rate and walk rate.

OFFENSE(S) TO AVOID

Cubs (vs. Yankees -- Luis Severino)
Severino flirted with perfection his last time out, ultimately tossing seven innings of one-hit ball while striking out 10. Overall, he has a 2.95 ERA this season and he's holding opponents to a .204 average.

Rockies (vs. Padres -- Joe Musgrove)
Musgrove has been dominant all season, putting up a 1.64 ERA and .197 opponents' batting average through 10 starts. As for the Rockies, they're hitting just .240 as a team away from Coors Field (compared to .275 at home).

As for any other offenses to avoid, the two prime options would be the Phillies (against Arizona's Zac Gallen) and the Giants (against Dodgers ace Walker Buehler). But while Gallen has been brilliant this season -- he's holding opponents to just a .191 average -- the Phillies are on absolute tear, having won seven straight games by a combined score of 53-19. As for Buehler, he's looked surprisingly hittable of late. He's coming off a season-worst outing in which he allowed five runs over just 2 1/3 innings against the Mets. He's allowed two homers in each of his last two outings, and he has a 6.66 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .320 over his past five outings.
