Josh Bell's body of work made it clear he deserved to be named to the International League All-Star team, but the No. 44 overall prospect (Pirates' No. 3) still took Wednesday's game as an opportunity to cement his place on the squad.
Hours after the International League All-Star roster was announced, Bell led Triple-A Indianapolis to a win with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate. The 23-year-old leads the league with 153 total bases and is hitting .323 with 13 homers and 48 RBIs through 77 games.

Bell has been working to add more power to his game over the past couple years, and although all three hits Wednesday were singles, he is on pace to set a career high in homers this year. His current high is 13, set in 2013.

• Dwight Smith Jr. (Blue Jays' No. 28) recorded a career-high six RBIs in his second two-homer game of the year for Double-A New Hampshire. Smith has seven home runs and 46 RBIs this year, his second with New Hampshire. In 117 games with the club a season ago, Smith hit seven homers and drove in 44 runs. "It feels great," Smith told MiLB.com. "I definitely worked hard in the offseason to come out here and do what I was capable of and put together a good year and help the team I was on in any way that I could."

• Max Fried (Braves' No. 9) led Class A Rome to a win with six scoreless innings of two-hit ball. The 22-year-old tied his season high for strikeouts with nine and gave up just two hits without walking a batter. Fried has given up one earned run over his last 12 innings and has held opponents scoreless in three of his last five starts.
"I'm just trusting my mechanics and stuff more now," Fried told MiLB.com "I'm a rhythm guy, so being able to repeat my delivery and throw all my pitches for strikes is huge. I get in trouble when I'm walking guys, so the more I'm pounding the zone and getting quick outs, the better I'll be. Those are the things I'm focused on."
• Eddy Martinez (Cubs' No. 15) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs in Class A South Bend's 8-2 win over Lake County. Martinez, who signed with the Cubs for $3 million last year, is hitting .238 with 36 RBIs through 71 games.

• Giants No. 2 prospect Tyler Beede concluded his masterful June with 7 2/3 scoreless innings of two-hit ball. The right-hander struck out nine, tying his season high, and posted a 1.53 ERA across five starts this month. Beede's month finished just as dominant as it began, as he fired eight scoreless innings for Double-A Richmond on June 2.

• Francisco Mejia (Indians' No. 8) was promoted to Class A Advanced Lynchburg, but the tougher competition didn't slow down his offensive production. Mejia extended his hitting streak to 25 games and went 2-for-4 in his first appearance at the new level. The lengthy hit streak has helped Mejia bump his batting average from .295 up to .350.
• After back-to-back 0-for-4 games, Wednesday's 3-for-5 performance must have felt good for Mariners No. 3 prospect Drew Jackson. The shortstop doubled and stole a pair of bases in Class A Advanced Bakersfield's win over San Jose.
• Wuilmer Becerra (Mets' No. 7) was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, the second such game of his career. The outfielder is hitting .335 through 52 games for Class A Advanced St. Lucie.
• Mets No. 11 prospect Jhoan Urena has had quite a week. Urena went 3-for-5 and set a career high with 5 RBIs for St. Lucie on Wednesday, marking his third consecutive three-hit game. The third baseman is 9-for-15 with nine RBIs in those games.
• Nationals No. 23 prospect Rhett Wiseman tripled, homered and drove in three runs for Class A Hagerstown. Wiseman has two homers and six RBIs in his past two games.
• Orioles top prospect Hunter Harvey was lights-out again as he works his way back from multiple injuries. The 21-year-old threw three scoreless innings for the GCL Orioles, striking out six and surrendering just two hits. In the two appearances since his injury, Harvey has totaled five innings, struck out 11 and given up no runs on three hits.
• Ryan Mountcastle (Orioles' No. 6) has five hits in his last 10 at-bats after going 3-for-6 with two doubles and four RBIs in Class A Delmarva's doubleheader.
• A pair of Phillies prospects are tied for the Minor League lead with 21 homers after both Dylan Cozens (Phillies' No. 22) and Rhys Hoskins (No. 19) went deep for Double-A Reading. In addition to being tied with 21 homers, both prospects have also driven in 62 runs. Cozens was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Hoskins was 2-for-5 with one RBI.

• A flyout in his final at-bat cost Derek Hill (Tigers' No. 2) a perfect day at the plate, but a 4-for-5 performance is nothing to scoff at. Hill doubled, tripled twice and had a pair of RBIs for Class A West Michigan. "When I'm aggressive, things just seem to work in my favor instead of being on the defensive side, like I have been in the past," Hill told MiLB.com. "So the whole key is staying aggressive for me."
• White Sox No. 13 prospect Jordan Stephens saw his scoreless streak come to an end after 19 innings, but he still put together a very solid outing with one run allowed on five hits in six innings. The right-hander struck out eight and has thrown at least six innings in five consecutive starts.
• Ian Clarkin (Yankees' No. 10) has thrown five or more innings in each of his past nine starts for Class A Advanced Tampa, including the five scoreless innings he threw against Lakeland, allowing six hits while striking out five.
• Yankees No. 19 prospect Chance Adams had a forgettable outing the last time he took the mound, but he bounced back to lead Trenton to a 5-1 win over Portland. Adams struck out seven and gave up just one run on one hit in seven innings.

• Mickey Moniak collected his first professional hit for the GCL Phillies. The No. 1 overall pick drove in a run and went 1-for-4 in his professional debut.
• Astros sixth-round pick Stephen Wrenn has five homers in 12 games after hitting a pair of balls out of the park in game one of a doubleheader for Class A Short Season Tri-City.
• Yankees eighth-round selection Dalton Blaser hit his first professional homer for the Class A Short Season Staten Island Yankees. The three-run homer was part of a 2-for-5 day for the outfielder.
