Beyond the Bases: Blue Jays

Blue Jays slugger Adam Lind keeps his batting gloves on the first step and his bat is in the same box. Always. It's been that way for seven years.

But are baseball players superstitious?

In the video above, Blue Jays hitting coach Chad Mottola won't go that far. "Superstition is a hard word," he said. "We kinda stick to the same routine."

My favorite part was learning about Johnny, the Blue Jays’ bat boy who organizes the players' gear in numerical order each game. He also explained how players prefer having their helmets right side up or upside down.

What do you think? Is there a difference between routine and superstition?
