Big League Weekend at GABP

Six High Schools To Participate

CINCINNATI - Six Cincinnati high schools will play three games this weekend as part of the inaugural "Big League Weekend" at Great American Ball Park.

The six teams playing at GABP are among the 70 teams from Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky featured in the Skyline Chili Reds Futures High School Showcase games from March 28 to April 24.

The games kick off Saturday, April 18 with Harrison vs. Oak Hills at 1 p.m. followed by Elder vs. Lakota West at 4 p.m.

Anderson and St. Xavier play on Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m.

"We are proud to host the six schools playing high school baseball at Great American Ball Park," said Phil Castellini, Reds Chief Operating Officer. "It's important that we support baseball at all levels including local high school baseball across Reds Country."

Fans can purchase discounted tickets to select Reds games online at reds.com/hsshowcase in advance of game day only. Each Reds ticket purchased through this page includes a voucher for entry into the ballpark this weekend for the "Big League Weekend" games.

The individual schools are also selling tickets though their athletic departments. For each ticket sold, a portion will be donated back to that school.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these teams to play on a major league field," said Tom Gamble, president of In-Game Sports. "And the games are another example of the Reds continuing to foster baseball in the Greater Cincinnati community."

Gates to Great American Ball Park open at Noon each day. Media interested in covering the games can enter GABP at the Dock #3 entrance on Pete Rose Way.
