Bloomquist scheduled for CT scan on left wrist

NEW YORK -- D-backs shortstop Willie Bloomquist will have a CT scan taken of his injured left wrist when the team returns to Phoenix following Thursday's game against the Mets.

Bloomquist was hit on the hand by a pitch on June 26, and while initial X-rays were negative, he was unable to play, and the team finally put him on the disabled list Wednesday.

"It's getting better," Bloomquist said. "Just not at the rate where it's good enough to play. It's getting better every day, but I'm not doing anybody any good by not being able to swing like I'm normally able to swing. Especially given the way the last week and half has gone for us, it's not fair to the team, it's not fair to me, it's not fair to anybody for me to go out and try to play just to say I played as opposed to being able to help the team."

Bloomquist will have the hand looked at by hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan.

"Just more to rule out everything," Bloomquist said. "It's still very sore. I think we all just want to make sure it's nothing more."

D-backs second baseman Aaron Hill was hit in the hand by a pitch in April, and while initial X-rays were negative, a CT scan later showed a slight fracture, and he missed more than two months.
