Blue Honda Opening Night just around corner

Fans encouraged to arrive early!

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS will open their 37th season with a sold out Rogers Centre for Honda Opening Night on Tuesday, April 2nd against the Cleveland Indians at 7:07pm.   Gates will open at 5:00pm and Blue Jays fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early and be part of the festive atmosphere at Rogers Centre.

Upon entering Rogers Centre, Blue Jays fans will receive a Honda Opening Night Rally Pom to wave during the game to support the home team.  Courtesy of Honda Canada, three lucky baseball fans will be awarded one of three exciting prizes during the game, including a new 2013 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD, a 2013 Honda CBR500RA Sportbike and a Honda lawn care kit.

In addition, the winner of the Jays Care Foundation 50/50 draw, presented by Ericsson, has the potential to take home up to $30,000.

In 2012 the Toronto Blue Jays were recognized for their efforts in supporting youth across Canada via many initiatives, most notably through the "Blue Jays Baseball Academy". Prior to the first pitch the club will recognize the achievement of being selected by Major League Baseball and Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig as the 2012 recipient of the Commissioner's Award for Philanthropic Excellence.

Rush frontman Geddy Lee will be throwing out the Ceremonial First Pitch. The vocalist, bassist and keyboardist of the Toronto rock band has been a longtime Blue Jays season ticket holder and baseball fan.  Lee and his Rush band mates Neil Peart & Alex Lifeson will be the first Canadian band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles on April 18th followed by their North American Clockwork Angels tour.

Performing both the Canadian and American national anthems will be Danielle Wade from La Salle, Ontario.  She was Canada's choice in a nationally televised reality show, to star as 'Dorothy' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of The Wizard of Oz, which has been playing to enthusiastic audiences since December 2012.  The Royal Canadian Mounted Police will also be on hand to present the colours prior to the national anthems.

Following the game all fans will be presented a 2013 Toronto Blue Jays magnet schedule. Fans across the country can watch the game, including the pre-game ceremonies, live on Sportsnet. The Honda Opening Week continues against the Indians on Wednesday April 3rd and Thursday April 4th before the Boston Red Sox come to town for a weekend series from Friday April 5th through Sunday April 7th. Fans can purchase single game tickets at the following options: Internet (www.bluejays.com); Phone (416-341-1234 or 1-888-OK-GO-JAY); Blue Jays Box Office Rogers Plus stores; Jays Shop (Yonge and Dundas location) and all Ticketmaster retail locations.
