Blue Jays acquire Barney

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired infielder DARWIN BARNEY from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. He will wear uniform #18 and be in New York for the game today.

BARNEY, 29, appeared in two games for the Dodgers this season (0-4) and spent the rest of the season with Oklahoma City where he hit .277 with 15 doubles, four home runs and 31 RBI. The 5-10, 180 lb. right-handed hitter is a career .245 hitter in 566 games and was the 2012 National League Gold Glove Award winner at second base for the Chicago Cubs.
