Blue Jays Acquire Price

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired LHP DAVID PRICE from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for LHP DANIEL NORRIS, LHP MATT BOYD & LHP JAIRO LABOURT.

PRICE , 29, has made 21 starts for Detroit in 2015 posting a 9-4 record with a 2.53 ERA. The left-hander ranks 4th in the AL in strikeouts (138), 5 th in ERA & 7th in winning pct. (.692). A Murfreesboro, TN native, Price captured the Cy Young in 2012, finished 2nd in the voting in 2010 and 6th last season, while adding All-Star selections in five of the last six seasons. Selected as the first overall selection by Tampa Bay in 2007, the 6-6, 210 pounder has recorded a career mark of 95-55 with a 3.13 ERA with a .235 opponent's average in 207 appearances (202 starts). His .633 career winning pct. is 5th best among active pitchers.

LHP DANIEL NORRIS made five starts for Toronto this season going 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA, while adding a 3-10 record with a 4.27 ERA in 16 starts at Buffalo (AAA). LHP MATT BOYD has posted a 9-2 record with a 1.68 ERA in 18 starts for New Hampshire (AA) and Buffalo (AAA) in 2015 and made his MLB debut vs. Texas on June 27. LHP JAIRO LABOURT is in his 5th professional season and is currently 2-7 with a 4.59 ERA in 18 starts at Dunedin (A).
