Blue Jays acquire Schwimer

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired RHP MICHAEL SCHWIMER from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for 1B ART CHARLES.

SCHWIMER, 27, appeared in 35 games, all in relief for the Phillies last season, posting a 2-1 record with a 4.46 ERA. The Fairfax, Virginia native was a 14th round selection of the Phillies in 2008, rising to the AAA level by 2010. The 6-8, 240 pound right-hander has posted a 13-4 record with a 2.12 ERA over parts of three seasons at Lehigh Valley (AAA) and has a career Major League ERA of 4.62 in 47 relief appearances.

To make room on the 40-man roster LHP LUIS PEREZ was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
