Wednesday's Blue Jays-Cards game postponed

Rescheduled for Thursday as back end of split doubleheader

April 26th, 2017

ST. LOUIS -- Wednesday evening's game between the Blue Jays and Cardinals has been postponed because of forecasted inclement weather in the St. Louis area.
The contest has been rescheduled for Thursday at 7:15 p.m. ET as part of a day-night doubleheader. Fans who have tickets for Wednesday's game can use those same tickets for admittance to Thursday's makeup game.
Toronto right-hander Mat Latos originally was scheduled to start Wednesday night at Busch Stadium, but he will now take the mound for Thursday's afternoon game, scheduled for 1:45 p.m. ET. Right-hander will then get the call, as previously scheduled, for the series finale.
The Cards also will remain on schedule with their pitching staff. Right-hander will start Game 1 and veteran righty will get the call in Game 2. This is the only series between these two teams in 2017.
The forecast in St. Louis was calling for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain throughout the day and well into the evening. The chance of precipitation was listed at 100 percent, with upward of three to four inches of rain expected. That was the main reason Wednesday's game was postponed approximately seven hours before the scheduled first pitch.
