Series opener vs. Nationals postponed by rain

Game to be made up as part of split doubleheader Tuesday at 1:05 and 7:05 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON -- The Blue Jays' game against the Nationals on Monday night was postponed because of inclement weather and will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Tuesday.

Toronto's first game on Tuesday is set for 1:05 p.m. ET, with the second game remaining on schedule for a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch. This marks the first time this season that the Blue Jays had one of their games postponed.

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, who was scheduled to start Monday night, will pitch the first game on Tuesday against Jordan Zimmermann. Right-hander Marco Estrada is still on track to pitch later that night in Game 2 vs. Max Scherzer.

The postponed game shouldn't have any long-term effects on the Blue Jays' rotation. Toronto has an off-day scheduled for Thursday, which means the club won't need to temporarily add a sixth starter to its rotation.
