Pipeline Preview: Pearson looks to stay hot in Game 3

September 11th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Greg Deichmann (Athletics' No. 16), Vermont vs. Mahoning Valley (7:05 p.m. ET)
Deichmann hit a homer as part of a 1-for-2 effort in Game 1 and will look for another strong offensive showing as Vermont goes for the sweep in the best-of-three New York-Penn League semifinals. The 22-year-old, whom the Athletics selected in the second round of the 2017 Draft, hit .274 with eight homers and 30 RBIs in 46 games during his pro debut.

Pitcher to watch: Nate Pearson (Blue Jays' No. 8), Vancouver vs. Eugene (10:05 p.m. ET)
Pearson looks to continue his stellar professional debut in Game 3 of the Northwest League Finals. The 21-year-old right-hander has been nearly untouchable since the Blue Jays selected him 28th overall. Pearson posted a 0.90 ERA across eight starts in the regular season and then threw four scoreless frames, giving up one hit and striking out 10, in the Northwest League semifinals.
