Blue Jays promote Korecky, option Rasmussen

The Blue Jays selected the contract of right-hander Bobby Korecky on Friday and optioned left-hander Rob Rasmussen to Triple-A Buffalo.

Korecky has posted 3-1 record with a 0.29 ERA and five saves in 22 appearances for the Bisons this season, allowing just one run in 31 innings. The 34-year-old began the season with 17 straight scoreless outings, and he's held batters to a .150 batting average, the second-lowest mark among all International League relievers.

The 13-year Minor League veteran has appeared in only 22 Major League games with the Twins, D-backs and Blue Jays, and he hasn't pitched in the Majors since 2012. In 24 2/3 big league innings, Korecky owns a 2-0 record and 7.30 ERA.

Rasmussen will return to Buffalo after tossing two scoreless innings over four relief appearances for the Blue Jays. The 25-year-old lefty recorded a 2.65 ERA in 13 appearances for the Bisons this season.
